My Precious Gemstones

Filed under: Uncategorized — gilbertandfrech @ 9:09 pm

How many of you girls out there know what it is that is called a girl’s best friend? That’s right, the diamond. Did you know that there are stones that are considered precious gemstones? The precious gemstones are diamonds, rubies, and sapphires. These are the most costly of the gemstones and are more rare than the semi-precious gemstones.

 – a diamond. This is the hardest gemstone. It is technically colorless, although occasionally that varies. This stone is said to amplify strengths and weaknesses. To all y ou men out there, remember diamonds are a girls best friend. You can never go wrong with a diamond. After all, every girl looks forward to the day that she gets to have that diamond on her finger!
–ruby. This stone is often called the king of the gemstones. It is always
red although sometimes it may appear darker or brighter than other times. This stone is recommended when you need help in the matters of love.
–a sapphire. Sapphire is the birthstone for September, the month when the most babies are born. It is a deep  vivid blue, though occasionally it can appear lighter. This stone clears unwanted thoughts and symbolizes sincerity and faithfulness ( which is why it is often picked to be part of an engagement ring).
So next time you go to buy a special piece of jewelry why not look for one of these gorgeous precious gemstones. Go on to www.gilbertandfrech.com and look at all the beautiful gemstones that we have to offer!

Jewelry and The Little Joys in Life

Filed under: Uncategorized — gilbertandfrech @ 8:14 pm

In our lives we have all enjoyed collecting something that we love. Whether it be stamps, baseball cards, beanie babies, spoons, coins, pictures- we have all had that joy of finding the perfect addition to our collection.

But, did you know that there are lots of people out there who collect loose gemstones? These people search high and low to find the perfect stone to add to their collection. Some people collect different cuts of stones. Some collect different sizes. Some collect different colors. Some collect the rare stones. And some even collect stones from different countries.

For many this makes no sense because when they think of a gemstone they think of jewelry. Bit I would suggest that when you think of gemstones you think of art, a sculpture that should be treasured for its unique beauty. Many ask what do you do with these gemstones? Well, the same thing you so with you cards, or stamps, or coins…you treasure them. You find a special place to show them off to the world.

Gems are definitely appreciated for their value, so if you did start collecting them and you came across some rare stones…you would have the potential to sell them for a profit. But most likely, you will become too attached to your stone to even think about parting with it.

You might be wondering if it costs much to start this collection or precious and rare gems. The answer to that question is no, not necessarily. Just as any collection can be expensive, so can this one. But if you look carefully and know where to look, you can find many interesting stone at a reasonable and affordable price!!!

Now that many of you are informed about this cool and different idea of things to do with gemstones, you might be wondering “Now where am I ever going to find these?” Well, the answer is simple… open up your internet and type in www.gilbertandfrech.com. As soon as you type in loose gemstones in the search bar dozens of different gemstones will pop up before your very eyes. We have different colors, different cuts, different sizes….whatever you could imagine.

If you desired you could have the gem made into a piece of jewelry. You could add it to a necklace, or a ring, or buy two and make a gorgeous pair of earrings. But on the other hand, you could begin a gorgeous collection of beautiful and unique gemstones.

So sign on to www.gilbertandfrech.com and get a jump start on your newest, prettiest, and most colorful collection!

Tourmalines: Gems of the Rainbow

Few people, when they think of gemstones, think first of tourmalines.  These amazing stones don’t have the name recognition of, say, diamonds, rubies, or sapphires.  But it’s a shame, because unlike the clear but sparkling diamond, or the fire-red ruby, tourmalines come in every color of the rainbow, and then some.

Tourmalines are a hard stone; they register 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale.  Because of this, they are wearable, “user-friendly”, if you will, and require no special care; another reason to love the rainbow gemstone.

Perhaps the best known tourmaline is the Watermelon Tourmaline.  These stones are bicolored tourmalines with red or pink cores and green layered around the red.  When cut crosswise, the stone has the appearance of a watermelon; hence the name.  These fun stones make great children’s jewelry; what child wouldn’t love a gemstone that looked like a watermelon?

However, because tourmalines are less well known than diamonds and amethysts and the like, they’re harder to find and often more expensive.  Superstores rarely have tourmalines alongside their $25.95 earrings and necklaces, even though they include stones such as rubies and diamonds (albeit tiny ones of lesser quality).  Someday, as the world learns more about this remarkable gemstone, perhaps they will.  Jewelers often have tourmalines, but jewelry from jewelers costs more.

Tourmalines are ideally suited to jewelry because their wide variety of colors makes it easy to find stones to suit every taste and every fancy.  Even true yellow, once a rare color in tourmaline, is now available through canary tourmalines from Malawi.

Tourmalines.  Even the name has a sense of mystery about it, as if all the fantasy and reality of gemstones was wrapped up in this one stone.  And who knows?  Perhaps it is.
