Mystic Topaz
Displaying a flaming kaleidoscope of colors, Mystic Topaz (also known as Mystic Fire Topaz, Rainbow Topaz, Titanium Topaz, Alaskan Topaz and Caribbean Topaz) is one of the 20th century’s most beautiful new gemstones. First appearing in September 1998 at the Hong Kong Jewelry Fair, the popularity of Mystic Topaz increased dramatically when it was exhibited at the Tucson Gem Show in 2003.
Mystic Topaz is produced using the physical vapor deposition (PVD) coating process. Applied to top quality natural White Topaz, the treatment is permanent with normal wear (please click here for more information on the PVD process). This process can induce an iridescent appearance, whose colors range depending on the light source and the viewing angle relative to both the gem’s surfaces and the light source.

While Mystic Topaz displays a wide variety of scintillating celestial, earthly and oceanic hues all in one gemstone, the PVD process also produces a range of popular new Topaz colors including Flamingo Topaz, Twilight Topaz, Moonlight Topaz, Canary Topaz, Kiwi Topaz and Neptune Topaz.

The United States celebrate Mother’s Day on the second Sunday in May. This year, the date is May 11th. Mother’s Day was loosely inspired by the British day and was imported by social activist Julia Ward Howe after the American Civil War. However, it was intended as a call to unite women against war. In 1870, she wrote the Mother’s Day Proclamation as a call for peace and disarmament. Howe failed in her attempt to get formal recognition of a Mother’s Day for Peace. Her idea was influenced by Ann Jarvis, a young Appalachian homemaker who, starting in 1858, had attempted to improve sanitation through what she called Mothers’ Work Days. She organized women throughout the Civil War to work for better sanitary conditions for both sides, and in 1868 she began work to reconcile Union and Confederate neighbors. In parts of the United States it is customary to plant tomatoes outdoors after Mother’s Day (and not before).
When Jarvis died in 1907, her daughter, named Anna Jarvis, started the crusade to found a memorial day for women. The first such Mother’s Day was celebrated in Grafton, West Virginia, on 10 May 1908, in the church where the elder Ann Jarvis had taught Sunday School. Grafton is the home to the International Mother’s Day Shrine. From there, the custom caught on — spreading eventually to 45 states. The holiday was declared officially by some states beginning in 1912. In 1914 President Woodrow Wilson declared the first national Mother’s Day, as a day for American citizens to show the flag in honor of those mothers whose sons had died in war.

We’re very proud to say that this upcoming June Gilbert & Frech will be celebrating 8 years in business. Wow! Time certainly does fly by. We really consider ourselves as partners with everyone that we supply jewelry. In saying so, allow us to clarify a few things:
- Without you, our customers, we would not be in business.
- We understand that you can purchase wholesale anywhere and you do not need us.
- We provide a service and product specially tailored to you.
While we can say all these things to you, we always like to back that up with some actual ACTION in helping you become
successful at selling jewelry….
As you may know, we work with dozens of silversmiths. A couple years ago, one of our craftsmen decided to focus on selling gemstone beads and set aside his silver. Well, a couple months ago he gave us a call and wanted to know if we wanted some more designs from him. Typically, we would agree because we have worked with him before on many successful designs, but what he said next REALLY CAUGHT OUR ATTENTION.
He offered to make some of our designs from the silver he had from almost 2 years ago.
Why is this such a big deal? Because silver was about HALF the price!
Now we didn’t take the silver and use it as plating over copper or something cheap like that. These are actual 925 trademark sterling silver jewelry designs. The one request this craftsman had is that we use castings and molds from part of our 2006 collection. This way he didn’t have to spend additional hours making new designs for us. The good news is that all of the designs you will see were really loved by customers.
Are you interested in such huge savings? We have about 25 pieces of each design. You can become a G&F Rep and take 65% off the marked 2006 price today while supplies lasts (program deals at http://store.gilbertandfrech.com/reps.html).
